Sept. 26 – Chainsaw Basics Workshop
INFO: This University of Idaho workshop will introduce the basics to chainsaw safety, operation, and maintenance through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on exercises. All equipment and PPE are included. Participants are required to wear pants and sturdy ankle-high closed-toe boots in order to operate power equipment. Dec. 10 – Scaling for Non-Scalers (WFCA)
INFO: This one-day, in-person course will feature a morning of classroom instruction followed by a hands-on afternoon in a working mill yard. In the ever-changing environment of forestry, forest products, and the ways in which product is bought and sold, it is critical that today’s industry professionals fully understand how logs are scaled in the Inland Northwest. With an advanced understanding of these issues, participants will gain insight from a team of qualified presenters representing Idaho’s certified log scalers and the Idaho Board of Scaling Practices. This training is designed specifically for non-scaling professionals, providing a working knowledge of the scaling process, log rules, sorts, grades, and accountability.
